Meet Dee:

I decided to learn the craft of novel writing following the death of my Jamaican dad. He was an aspiring writer and always encouraged me. 

Can you give us a one-line pitch of your book?

They said she was too ugly for TikTok, but what was her real sin?

What inspired you to write your novel?

Themes of adoption and identity.TikTok has also inspired me. I’m a crime fan who loves Kate Atkinson’s Jackson Brodie novels and anything by Val McDermid.

Where is your favourite place to write?

In the kitchen at a round table.

What are three essentials you need when writing?

1) Cardigans (I’m always cold)
2) Coffee
3) Crisps

If you were stuck on a desert island what three books would you take with you?

1 Roots, Alex Haley
2 When Will There Be Good News? Kate Atkinson
3 Olive Kitteridge, Elizabeth Strout
